Oak Tree Supported Living Bristol

About Oak Tree Supported Living

Oak Tree Supported Living provides specialist supported living and residential services for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and acquired brain injuries across Bristol and the Midlands.

About the Role

Oak Tree Supported Living is looking for an Autism Support Specialist to work in our Bristol supported living service, providing specialist support to adults with autism and learning disabilities who have complex communication and sensory needs.

You will bring detailed knowledge of autism and a commitment to genuinely understanding the individuals you support — their communication styles, sensory profiles, and what makes life good for them.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supporting adults with autism to manage daily routines, sensory environments, and transitions
  • Using individual communication strategies including AAC, visual supports, and Makaton
  • Developing and implementing sensory profiles in collaboration with OTs and speech and language therapists
  • Using PBS frameworks to understand and respond to behaviours that challenge
  • Building consistent, predictable relationships that help individuals feel safe and understood
  • Contributing to behaviour support plans and attending MDT reviews
  • Mentoring less experienced staff in autism-informed practice

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum two years’ experience supporting adults with autism in a supported living or community setting
  • Solid understanding of autism, sensory processing, and communication
  • PBS training (desirable) or willingness to train
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

What We Offer

  • £13.00 per hour
  • Specialist autism training programme funded by Oak Tree
  • Regular clinical supervision with the PBS lead
  • NVQ Level 3 or Level 4 CPD pathways
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Real career progression into specialist and management roles
