About the Role
The Harrison family is looking for an experienced, warm, and patient live-in carer to support their father — a 78-year-old retired engineer with mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease — in his home in Guildford, Surrey.
He is a sociable, sharp-humoured man who loves cricket, Radio 4, and crossword puzzles. He needs help with personal care, medication, and day-to-day activities, but remains in his own home surrounded by things that are meaningful to him. The family is closely involved and will provide full support.
What the Role Involves
- Personal care — washing, dressing, toileting — delivered with dignity and patience
- Medication prompt and administration (with training provided if needed)
- Preparing and cooking meals aligned with his preferences and nutritional needs
- Accompanying to GP appointments and social activities
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Providing companionship and meaningful engagement throughout the day
- Communicating openly with the family about his wellbeing and any changes observed
About You
- You have at least two years of experience supporting someone with dementia, ideally in a private home or live-in setting
- You are genuinely warm, patient, and able to go with the flow when plans change
- You understand the behaviours associated with mid-stage Alzheimer’s and know how to respond calmly
- You hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (on the Update Service preferred)
- You are eligible to work in the UK
- Driving licence preferred but not essential — good local transport links
What Is Offered
- £750–£850 per week (depending on experience)

- Alternate weeks on / off rota
