About the Role
Helping Hands Care is recruiting a live-in carer for an elderly couple in rural Dorset. Both are in their mid-eighties. One has mild Parkinson’s disease affecting mobility and speech; the other is physically well but has some cognitive slowing and finds the responsibilities of the household increasingly difficult to manage.
They are independent-minded, sociable, and very attached to their home and garden. They are looking for someone who will support them both practically and socially, fitting into their established routine with warmth and respect.
What the Role Involves
- Personal care for both individuals, sensitively adapted to their differing needs
- Assistance with mobility for the individual with Parkinson’s, including transfers
- Medication prompt and administration
- Cooking meals using their preferred recipes and dietary requirements
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and general household management
- Accompanying to GP appointments, social visits, and leisure activities
- Driving the couple to local activities and appointments (own vehicle provided)
About You
- Experience supporting individuals with Parkinson’s disease is highly desirable
- Driving licence essential — own vehicle provided for use during placement
- Confident and proactive in managing a household
- A warm, sociable nature — they enjoy company and conversation
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
- Eligible to work in the UK
What Is Offered
- £950–£1,100 per week (depending on experience)
- Private accommodation in the family home
- All meals provided
- Vehicle available for use with clients
- Alternate weeks on / off rota
- Helping Hands coordinator support throughout
