About Bright Futures Care
Bright Futures Care provides specialist residential and supported living services for children, young people, and young adults with complex needs, autism, and emotional and behavioural difficulties across Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
About the Role
Bright Futures Care is looking for bank support workers to assist foster carers across Birmingham at short notice, particularly during emergency placements and placement transitions.
This is a highly responsive role — you may be called to provide an additional adult presence in a foster home when a child with complex needs or a recent trauma history has just arrived. Your role is to support the foster carer, help stabilise the environment, and provide a calm, consistent presence for the child.
What the Role Involves
- Attending foster homes at short notice to provide additional support during emergency placements
- Supporting foster carers in managing the practical and emotional needs of children at placement entry
- Providing direct support to children and young people: activities, routines, de-escalation
- Completing accurate records of each visit and any safeguarding concerns
- Attending brief review calls with the Bright Futures placement coordinator
What We Are Looking For
- Significant experience working with children and young people in care, residential, or foster settings
- Trauma-informed practice knowledge — you understand what crisis looks and feels like in children
- Available at short notice — this is a bank role and availability matters
- Car driver with full UK licence (essential — placements are spread across the Birmingham area)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
What We Offer
- £14.00 per hour (bank rate)
- Genuinely flexible — you set your availability
- Therapeutic and trauma-informed training provided
- Dedicated placement coordinator support on every shift
- Care pathway into permanent residential or support roles with Bright Futures
