About Sunrise Care Homes
Sunrise Care Homes operates six residential and dementia care homes across Surrey and the South East, providing person-centred care for older adults.
About the Role
We are looking for a committed and compassionate Dementia Support Worker to join our specialist dementia unit at our Guildford home. This is a key role in which you will provide person-centred care and emotional support to residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
You will be part of a close-knit team dedicated to maintaining the dignity, independence, and quality of life of every resident. No two days are the same, and every interaction matters.
What You Will Be Doing
- Providing personal care with dignity and respect, following individual care plans
- Supporting residents through daily routines — morning and evening care, mealtimes, and activities
- Using reminiscence and sensory approaches to connect with residents in meaningful ways
- Monitoring and reporting changes in health or wellbeing to the senior care team
- Building trusting relationships with residents, families, and colleagues
- Participating in handovers, team meetings, and ongoing training
- Completing accurate and timely care records
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in a care setting, ideally with dementia-specific experience
- Genuine compassion and patience — you understand that behaviours have meaning
- A calm, consistent approach in sometimes challenging situations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- NVQ Level 2 or above preferred, or willingness to work towards it
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
What We Offer
- £12.50 per hour, rising to £13.00 after successful probation
- Funded NVQ Level 2 / Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
- Free uniform and DBS check
- Genuine career progression into senior and specialist roles
- Supportive, stable team with low turnover
